LOCATIONS

When it comes to experiencing authentic Mexican cuisine in Poway, California, few places quite capture the vibrant essence of the culture like Salsa Mexican Food. Nestled at 13230 Poway Rd, this gem invites diners into a world where flavors dance, and every dish tells a story.

As you approach, the buzz of excitement and anticipation in the air is palpable. With a convenient drive-thru and a welcoming walk-up counter, the restaurant eases you into a casual yet captivating dining experience. Customers rave about the California Burrito, which one patron, Eric Yang, describes as “extremely large and really worth the price.” This burrito is a culinary experience on its own, wrapped in a soft tortilla and filled with ample carne asada, fries, and creamy guacamole.

The open kitchen concept elevates the dining atmosphere, allowing diners to watch skilled chefs at work. Cristiano Smith's review reflects this sentiment, noting how the experience is made all the more exciting as food matches the lively show put on by the chefs. The speed of service ensures you won’t be left waiting long before indulging in expertly crafted dishes.

While many dishes receive accolades, the carne fries, highlighted by Nicholas Cardoza, are a must-try. His discovery of these massive, flavorful fries indicates a culinary triumph that is both delicious and satisfying. Fresh ingredients like pico de gallo and guacamole make every bite a delight.

However, experiences can vary, as seen in Heming Diep's comments about the burrito being a bit lacking in meat and flavor. Yet, the overall consensus among patrons is that the dishes, including the rolled tacos and enchiladas, deliver in taste and freshness. Yvette Luther emphasizes this, praising the restaurant for bringing non-greasy, tasty Mexican food to Poway. She finds great satisfaction in the flavorful hot sauces and fresh sides that accompany her meals.

Salsa Mexican Food also pays homage to traditional Mexican beverages, drawing praise for their refreshing horchata. This drink complements the robust flavors of the food and provides the perfect balance for a hot day.

Really good Mexican food! I'd definitely recommend the California Burrito if you don't know what to get - it's also extremely large and really worth for the price. There's a drive thru, but there's also a small counter where you can walk up and order. Food comes pretty quick, it tastes great, and all the prices are excellent. There are also some Mexican drinks which are really good, especially the Horchata. A fantastic Mexican restaurant.

Has a supreme California burrito. The tortilla was good but the burrito itself was lacking meat and fries. It did come with a good amount of guacamole but it just made the burrito very squishy feeling. The carne asada wasn't too flavorful either Update 1/6/25: Solid rolled tacos and the enchiladas are

HUUUGE and delicious carne fries. I’ve been hunting for some decent carne fries in north SD for a while now. Think I’ve found my spot. Costly for the large fries, but also two meals here. Fresh pico, fresh guac, fresh everything - completely unexpected as it was a late night pickup and I assumed I’d be getting the leftover scrapings of whatever they had remaining from today’s service - boy was I wrong. Definitely worth giving them a try!

Great food!! I have not been able to find decent non greasy tasty mexican food in poway. We have lots of places to eat but honestly none as good as this place. I have to say it is on the expensive side but well worth the price for the taste of the food. The hot sauces were tasty along with the carrots!! We had Rolled Tacos, Rice, Beans and Carne Asada burrito. Everything was fresh and tasty. Highly recommend this place.

Ordered the Mini tacos, carnitas. With a good handful of cilantro and onions. Next time I won’t deny the chipotle sauce.
